TBC Bank Group PLC established Space International with the strategic aim of facilitating the group's global expansion efforts. In 2018, the team successfully introduced the pioneering neobank, Space, in Georgia. Building upon this success, subsequent efforts were directed towards the creation and launch of the fully digital bank in Uzbekistan, TBC UZ, in 2020. In a significant move towards enhancing its foothold in the Uzbek market, the group acquired Payme, a prominent local payments provider and esteemed brand among the Uzbek populace, in 2023.
Presently, a dedicated team of 1,700 professionals representing 17 nationalities collaborates to advance TBC's international presence. Space International spearheads the provision of cutting-edge technologies and top-tier professional services, while the local teams at Payme and TBC Uzbekistan drive sustained growth and operational excellence.
As the DataOps Lead, they will be the primary architect and guardian of the on-premise "Data Factory.” They will bridge the gap between high-performance data engineering, machine learning operations, and rigorous IT security auditing. Their mission will be to automate the lifecycle of the private data cloud—from bare-metal provisioning with Terraform to real-time analytics with StarRocks and ML orchestration via Kubeflow—all while ensuring a hardened, audit-ready security posture.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Audit & Risk Management
Asset & Vulnerability Auditing: Conduct deep-dive audits of on-premise IT
infrastructure (Servers, Storage, Networking) to identify assets and analyze
vulnerabilities within the data ecosystem.
Risk-Based Mitigation: Provide actionable, risk-based recommendations for
addressing vulnerabilities in the StarRocks and Kubeflow clusters based on business
criticality.
Technical Risk Remediation: Prioritize and address high-impact vulnerabilities by
implementing security patches, OS hardening, or architectural modifications to the on-
premise stack.
Platform Engineering & Automation
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use Terraform to automate the provisioning and
state management of on-premise vSphere/Bare Metal environments and Kubernetes
clusters.
CI/CD Pipeline Mastery: Create and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for data
processes, ensuring that StarRocks schemas and Kubeflow pipeline definitions are
version-controlled and automatically deployed.
High Availability & Resilience: Monitor on-premise performance (CPU/GPU/Storage),
identify bottlenecks in distributed systems, and ensure 99.9% availability of the data
platform.
Data Security & Governance
Security Strategy Implementation: Deploy data security and governance frameworks
across the on-premise stack, ensuring compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or internal
banking regulations.
Vulnerability Assessments: Conduct regular scans and create detailed reports to
track risk management progress across the data pipeline and local IT systems.
Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with clients to deliver clear communication
regarding identified threats and the strategic mitigation of infrastructure risks.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a
related field.
Experience: 8+ years of total experience, with a significant focus on Java-based data
projects and infrastructure automation.
Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to lead a technical team
while remaining "hands-on" with the metal.
Required Skills & Technical Stack
Data & ML Platforms
OLAP Expertise: Hands-on experience managing and tuning StarRocks (or similar
MPP databases like ClickHouse) for high-concurrency, low-latency analytics.
DataOps Orchestration: Proven experience deploying and scaling Kubeflow on-
premise, including Pipelines, Notebooks, and Katib.
Distributed Systems: Strong understanding of Java-based data pipelines using
Apache Kafka and Apache Spark for real-time and batch processing.
DevOps & Infrastructure
IaC & Automation: Advanced proficiency in Terraform for managing non-cloud
providers (on-premise APIs) and Ansible for configuration management.
Containerization: Expert-level knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes administration
(specifically Bare Metal or RKE2/K3s environments).
Java Development: Solid understanding of Java (OOP) and system architecture for
troubleshooting and optimizing data processing engines.
Security & Risk
Vulnerability Management: Familiarity with frameworks and tools such as Nessus,
Qualys, or OWASP.
Threat Modeling: Ability to identify threats to on-premise data lakes and implement
mitigation strategies (RBAC, Encryption-at-rest/transit).
Network Security: Understanding of local networking (Load Balancers, Firewalls,
VLANs) as it relates to data sovereignty.
Nice to Have
Big Data Legacy: Prior experience with Hadoop/HDFS or Greenplum to assist in
migrations to StarRocks.
Observability: Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk for deep-stack
monitoring of on-premise hardware and software.
Messaging Brokers: Exposure to RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ for asynchronous system
communication.
Recovery Planning: Knowledge of incident management, Disaster Recovery (DR), and
business continuity for local data centers.
